Questions?

How much does International Roaming cost and what’s included?

Costs and Features are summarised below

For the duration of your Travel Pass you can make and receive unlimited voice calls to and from standard numbers, send unlimited SMS to standard numbers and use your Data Allowance in the eligible countries of the Zone you select. A standard number refers to local or international fixed-line and mobile numbers.

Data usage is the amount of data you use to browse the internet, send and receive email and MMS, and use mobile apps. If you’re not sure how much data you might need, then use the Data Usage Calculator to help you estimate your data usage needs at Telstra Data Usage Calculator

International Travel Pass inclusions are only applicable to the service that has purchased the pass. Your data allowance cannot be shared among multiple services.

If you exceed the data allowance in your Travel Pass, but your Travel Pass has not yet expired, you can continue to enjoy unlimited calls and SMS to and within Eligible Countries in your zone. During this time, you will incur excess data charges at a rate of 3c per Megabyte (MB) until your Travel Pass expires. If you elect to not purchase a Travel Pass, you will be charged at the applicable PAYG rates (data charged per MB).

How will I know when the Travel Pass has been added?

Find out here

After you submit this form, the KeyTech team will be in touch within 24 hours to let you know we received your request and to confirm the activation. As soon as the pass is added on the activation date the user will automatically receive an sms direct from Telstra.

Do I need to activate anything on the handset?

Nope

No, we do all the hard work. The handset may need to be turned off and on to help it search and connect to another carriers network overseas but you should have your phone off on the plane anyway.

How do I keep track of my usage?

Find out here

Telstra will send you usage alerts to keep you up-to-date with your usage. You will receive an SMS when you’ve have used 50%, 85% and 100% of your data allowance. If you use 100% of your data allowance Telstra send you an SMS reminding you of the cost to use data while overseas.

Some More Tips

Travel Pass… don’t leave home without one

A Travel Pass is one of the easiest ways to take your mobile or mobile broadband service overseas and manage your International Roaming costs. For a one-off charge, a Travel Pass can be used in more than 40 eligible countries for the duration of time purchased on your pass. While you’re in an eligible country, you not only receive a data allowance for use in that zone, but you can also make unlimited voice calls and SMS to standard numbers anywhere in the world.

International Roaming alerts

When you arrive at your destination and turn on your device, you’ll receive an SMS from Telstra informing you that International Roaming is active. If you’ve purchased a Travel Pass, you’ll receive an SMS when it’s active on your service. You’ll also receive a reminder SMS to notify you when your Travel Pass is about to expire.

You will only be able to receive these notifications if your device is capable of receiving SMS.

Usage alerts

While you’re overseas, we will send you SMS alerts to keep you informed of your spend and usage (if your device is capable of receiving SMS). If you’re using data at our pay-as-you-go rates, or exceed your Travel Pass allowance, we’ll send you an SMS every time you use $100 worth of data. If you’re using data with a Travel Pass, we’ll send you alerts at 50%, 85% and 100% of your data allowance. If you’ve purchased a Travel Pass, you’ll get an SMS reminder approximately 12 hours before your pass expires so that you have time to purchase another Travel Pass and roll over any unused data.
