Welcome to the world of digital signage! It is a world where you can save money, and time, and boost revenue! How could this possibly be the case you ask? To answer this question, I’ll take you through a case study of a business that has done just that! First, however, I want to present you with a fact that some of you may find surprising. Printer ink is more expensive than human blood… Yep, and when you add to this the cost of buying more paper whenever a restaurant changes its menu for example. The costs get unwieldy.

Case Study

Digital Signage

Digital Signage at Westfield shopping centres

Westfield Shopping Centres, the Australian-based retail network, installed several digital signs at nearly 40 shopping centres throughout the country. Though these were only small signs, they were so effective that advertising spots were continually sold out after a month!

Costs

Let’s say that you’re a small shopping centre hoping to get more foot traffic through the door. You notice a billboard on the street adjacent to your site and consider placing a billboard up to capture the attention of passers-by. You also have a rather visible and large window which overlooks the road. You consider the two options and decide to check out the costs associated with each:

Option 1: Billboards

The cost of a small billboard of 6/3 metres starts at around $1,900 per month at a minimum (source). On top of this, the cost of printing is $500 and installation starts at $395. Making the cost for the first month $2,795 at a bare minimum. This is also the cost of changing the design any given month. Given the setup and monthly costs, your total cost after 1 year will be $23,695.

Option 2: Digital Signage

On the other hand, you can get a larger display (approximately 1.38 times the size) with an interactive dashboard where you can change the displayed image for free whenever you want, schedule different graphics for different times, and attract attention with designs involving video, moving text and virtually whatever you want to see. So how much does it cost? Well, our costs include a $199 setup fee, $45 rent for the first month, and a $199 signage player, accounting for $443. To get a display larger than the billboard you will need to combine multiple TVs into a single display. So, you can get 9 TVs, each at $613 (source), combine them with a controller costing $1,888(), and mount all of them for the best display with a portable wall mount costing $2,388. (source). After this, including all initial costs, and 11 months of extra subscription (each at $45), your total cost at the end of the year will be just $10,738.

You would save $12,956 in the first year to get a more adaptable display, which you can change and schedule for free, and is 1.38 times the size!

You’d have to be crazy to turn that down!

If that doesn’t convince you, consider that you can also make money from selling advertising space to stores in the centre, whilst still receiving more foot traffic. You can also change your design for free (to advertise Mother’s Day specials for example), and remotely manage your displays through our online dashboard!

Digital Signage for Doctor's Surgeries

Digital Signage can also work great for doctor’s surgeries

Let’s say you own a general medical practice, these displays could be used to display to patients how many appointments are left before they can be seen by a certain doctor, and even how long that may take. You could display announcements about flu shots or any other important information in an eye-catching way. The possibilities go on and on, so why wait contact us to reap the benefits yourself!
